Wrong target for road-rage gunman
A Johannesburg man chose the wrong car and driver on which to vent his road rage on Saturday - especially when he pulled out a gun...

Johannesburg Metro Police spokesman Wayne Minnaar said a man aged 29 and driving a white VW Golf was tailing a red Golf that he believed had cut him off in peak traffic.

The driver, from Fordsburg, in southern Johannesburg, caught the red Golf in the congested traffic, left his car, drew a gun and smashed the other car's windows. Then he made an even more stupid move... he pointed the firearm at the white Golf's two occupants.

Who turned out to be two Metro cops in plain clothes in an unmarked car.

Minaar said: "After he broke the window with his firearm he pointed the firearm at the officers - and was shot in his right leg."

He said the man would been charged with attempted murder and malicious damage to property.

"We will also conduct a criminal investigation as well as a departmental investigation," Minnaar added.
