The African market, Central America and Caribbean region amount to 3.6 million units and Yamaha wants a bigger share of the pie. Powering the Yamaha Crux Rev is powered by the 110 cc four stroke, air cooled Blue Core mill which is claimed to be 18 percent more fuel efficient than the existing offering.
While output figures have not been revealed it is expected to be the same as the Yamaha Saluto RX which is capable of producing 7.5 PS of maximum power at 7,000 rpm and 8.5 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. The claimed fuel efficiency of this mill is 82 km/l.
The utilitarian Yamaha Crux Rev gets a flat seat which will help the bike serve as an ideal bike taxi, the way most commuter motorcycles are used in Africa. The bike will be offered with spoke and alloy wheels.
The Yamaha Crux Rev will begin reaching customers in April 2017 and is expected to be priced around USD 900 which will vary a bit depending on the market.
