Now, Alfa Romeo and Maserati CEO Santo Ficili suggests that the way forward could be a stronger collaboration between the Italian brands. An official announcement of the plan could happen shortly after the new Stellantis CEO, Antonio Filosa, takes the helm of the automotive conglomerate later in June.
Ficili told the media that the companies have a plan for the future, according to Drive. The idea is for the two brands to share parts and platforms in an effort to cut costs. They would also split vehicle development costs. However, the strategy still needs final approval from the incoming Stellantis CEO.
Then after this time [the new CEO taking over], we will go ahead with the presentation of the strategic plan of Alfa Romeo and Maserati, together finding synergies where is possible,

The CEO also indicated the collaboration could go beyond just sharing components. He also mentioned that Alfa Romeo and Maserati might cooperate on their organizational structure, dealer network, and plants in Italy.
The announcement of this potential future strategy comes amid Stellantis hiring the consulting firm McKinsey & Co. for advice on how Alfa Romeo and Maserati can weather the tariffs in the United States. Roughly 35% to 40% of Maserati's sales are from the US, meaning success in the country is vital to the brand's health. The consultants are also investigating possible partnership opportunities with other automakers to help these Italian brands.
