New survey asks motorists about the excuses that they have given to cops for bad driving. Drivers’ alibis usually have little bearing on their being ticketed when they are pulled over for speeding, running red lights or other infringements.
But that doesn’t mean that they will stop from offering excused to the cops.
Insurance.com in the US recently surveyed motorists about the excuses that they have given to cops, News.com.au reported.
The survey produced some surprising results in terms of what drivers thought will help them avoid getting a ticket
Survey’s top 11 responses are
- I couldn’t see the sign telling me not to do it
- I’m lost and unfamiliar with the roads
- I didn’t know it was broken
- Everyone else was doing it
- I’m having an emergency situation in my car
- I missed my turn/exit
- I had to go to the bathroom
- I didn’t do anything dangerous
- I was on my way to an emergency
- My GPS said it was the right thing to do
- I’m just helping out; I wasn’t even supposed to be driving
65 percent women blamed their bladders and went with “I had to go to the bathroom” and 90 percent men shifted their blame, choosing “I’m just helping out; I wasn’t even supposed to be driving.”
