2014 Toyota Corolla to be Unveiled in a Few Months
The Corolla as a brand is partly responsible for what Toyota is today. The world’s best selling nameplate had a whopping 39 million units to its credit as of 2012 and that speaks volumes about the importance of the incoming model.

The current Corolla is being hunted down by the redesigned or refreshed Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze and Ford Focus and Toyota is addressing that problem this year. A product update is hugely important for Toyota to keep the Corolla on top of the sales chart.

Edmunds.com reports that the next gen Corolla will be on sale before the start of the Los Angeles Auto Show scheduled usually in November.

Speaking to the media at the J.D. Power Associates conference in New York, Mr. Bob Carter, the senior vice president of automotive operations at Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., stated that the new Toyota Corolla will be unveiled in the US, before the LA Auto Show.

The 2014 Toyota Corolla was previewed by the Toyota Furia Concept which was unveiled at NAIAS 2013. The concept features a striking design which is in line with the CEO Akio Toyoda’s new motto: “Fun to drive, again.”

Toyota has suggested that the redesigned Corolla will be longer and lower than the outgoing model. The Furia concept has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm while that of the current car measures at 2,600 mm. The overall length has been increased by 4.8 cm.

No powertrain details has been discussed by Toyota yet but the new sedan will have to bear a tech-laden package to fight away its modern rivals.
