The 2018 Ducati Monster 821 pays homage to the legendary Ducati Monster 900 which was one of the bikes that kick-started Ducati's naked bike segment. The 2018 iteration features redesigned tank and tail section for a more muscular look. The design of the twin exhaust cans is identical to its bigger cousin, the Monster 1200. The motorcycle also features a newly designed headlamp with LED DRL; and a new TFT colour instrument cluster which now features gear and fuel indicator for the first time in the 821.
The 2018 Ducati Monster 821 draws power from an 821cc Testastretta L-twin engine with liquid cooling and fuel injection. It generates 110.5 PS of power (down by 3 PS) at 9,250 rpm; and 86 Nm of torque (down by 3.4 Nm) at 7,750 rpm. The engine works in tandem with a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. Electronics package includes standard Riding Modes, Power Modes, Ducati Safety Pack (Bosch ABS + Ducati Traction Control DTC), and a pillion seat cowl. Up & down Quickshift (DQS), Anti-theft system, Ducati Data Analyser (DDA) are optional.
A 43 mm upside down front fork and an adjustable rear monoshock with progressive linkage hold the tubular steel trellis frame. The 17-inch alloy wheels are shod with 120-section front and 180-section rear Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres.
The motorcycle comes to a halt using dual 320 mm discs with Brembo M4-32 Monobloc radial 4-piston callipers at the front. The rear employs a single 245 mm disc with a two-piston calliper. The motorcycle tips the scale at 180.5 kg, dry. Three colour variants are available- Ducati Yellow, Ducati Red and Dark Stealth.
