2018 Mitsubishi Triton (facelift) with Dynamic Shield front-end spied
The fifth-gen Mitsubishi Triton introduced in late-2014 is on course to receive a refresh this year.

Mitsubishi has started testing the 2018 Mitsubishi Triton, spy shots shared by Paultan reader Tim Kelly show.

The facelifted Mitsubishi Triton features the latest interpretation of Mitsubishi's "Dynamic Shield" front design concept adopted by the Mitsubishi Xpander and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. The new model will have a front lighting setup similar to that of the latter, with sharp headlamps featuring LED DRLs in the upper portion and vertically stacked turn signals and fog lamps below.

The layout of the new radiator grille, lower air intake and bumper follow the design principles of the two latest Mitsubishis. All in all, the new X-shaped front fascia leaves the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger rival with a sportier and contemporary feel.

The Mitsubishi Triton, also known as Mitsubishi L200, Ram 1200 and Fiat Fullback, comes in three cab styles: single cab, extended cab and double cab. Mitsubishi retails it with the 4G64 132 PS 2.4L MPI petrol, 4D56 110 PS/128 PS/136 PS/178 PS 2.5L diesel and 4N15 181 PS 2.4-litre diesel engines. 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 5-speed automatic are the transmission choices. Two 4WD system options are available: Easy Select 4WD and Super Select 4WD-II.
