Renault is currently working on an extended Renault Captur, which will be sold in emerging markets across the globe (including India).

Auto Esporte has worked on a render of the upcoming Renault Grand Captur (name unconfirmed), which could look close to the real deal.

The only visual difference appears to be the longer rear overhang. However changes are more than skin deep. Reports state that that Renault Grand Captur will ride on an extended version of the Duster’s platform, reason being the cost benefit that a localized, and older platform brings.

Codenamed ‘Renault HHA’, the Grand Captur is likely to be a seven-seater that will take on the Mahindra XUV500, Honda BR-V and the Tata Hexa from 2017 in the Indian market. Russian reports suggest it will enter production next year in the country, while a report in July confirmed the same vehicle for Brazil.

Engine lineup is likely to be carried over from Renault Captur, which includes a Energy TCe 90 and TCe 120 EDC as petrol options, and Energy dCi 90 and dCi 90 EDC as diesel options. A 5-speed manual or 6-speed EDC automatic could be the transmission options offered. An AMT may replace the EDC unit for the India-spec model, where low-cost of maintenance is a customer priority.
