Robert Bosch GmbH is opening an r&d center and factory in Changsha in southeastern China to produce starter motors, generators, thermal systems and wipers.

The 700 million yuan ($87 million) operation will cover 12,760 square meters and will double the German supplier's annual production of starter motors in Changsha to 3.3 million units.

According to Bosch, the technical center will devote one-third of its resources to the development of start-stop systems for Chinese automakers.
