Environment Police Rife: Eight Bystanders and Five Buses Fined
In order to educate the citizens of Mauritius on the importance of a clean island, the police of the Environment visited Aug. 8 at Quatre-Bornes.

The police went to various shops in town to offer advice. They also went to a nightclub to evoke evenings held there. During this descent surprise, between 10 and 13 hours, the police of the Environment has verbalized eight offenders for "illegal loitering." Bystanders were caught red-handed while they were throwing cigarette butts, trash or other debris on public roads.

Two buses of the National Transportation Company and individual bus were also fined. Two others were taken in violation because they let the oil escape. The police of the Environment plans to travel to other parts of the island in the coming days.
