The 2016 Hyundai Tucson has been spied testing in Brazil by AutosSegredos reader Jose Roberto ahead of its expected launch in the second half of this year in the South American nation. The next generation model which has been spotted testing since September 2014 is bound to be launched in India later this year.
The new Tucson follows the design language that has inspired the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Hyundai ix25. The crossover measures 4,475 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, 1,645 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. Its boot volume is 513 litres.
The SUV is expected to be introduced in India only with a diesel engine which is the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 182 hp (136 KW) and 400 Nm. It will be offered exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission and Hyundai’s Active On-Demand AWD system.
In Europe the 2016 Tucson is offered with new versions of the 1.6 GDI turbo-petrol engine in 140 hp and 180 hp variants with six-speed manual transmission and seven-speed DCT respectively, and a 1.7-liter diesel engine with a 2WD configuration was announced at the Geneva show. AutosSegredos writes that the Tucson will keep the current 2.0-liter 178 PS flex fuel engine in Brazil.
