Renault Captur on view at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show
The Renault Captur has made its South American debut at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show in Brazil, giving the public a closer look at the Duster-based crossover.

Renault is accepting early bookings for the Captur at the auto show, and deliveries will commence in February 2017.

Renault this year confirmed in a press conference that the Captur will be manufactured alongside the Duster at its facility in Sao José dos Pinhais. The exterior and interior of the Brazil-made Captur look largely identical to the Euro-spec Captur, but the model is based on the platform of the Duster. It measures 4,333 mm in length, 1,813 mm (excluding exterior mirrors) in width, 1,613 in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,674 mm. Compared to the Euro-spec Captur, it is 211 mm longer, 35 mm wider and 47 mm taller.

Inside, top variants of the Captur come with a dual-tone white and black dashboard, 7-inch MEDIANAV touchscreen display, piano black and chrome embellishes, steering-mounted buttons, rain-sensing wipers and Key Card with "hands-free" system.

The Captur will be offered in two trims: Zen and Intense. It will pack a 120 hp 1.6-litre flex-fuel engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox (Zen) or CVT (Zen or Intense). There is also an option of a bigger 2.0-litre engine with 148 hp paired with a 4-speed automatic gearbox. Both variants don't get an AWD system, unlike the Duster.
