Market Leader in Automotive Mauritius: The War of figures Between Nissan and Toyota
There have been more Nissan or Toyota sold in Mauritius during the year 2012? The two dealers, supporting figures, claiming to be at the top of the charts.

They both cry victory. While ABC Motors claims the prize for the 17th consecutive year with 1297 Nissan sold in 2012, Toyota Mauritius puts the figure at 1,348 to justify his place in the first rank of sales in the local automotive market. There are two dealers in their commentary to explain this performance. Side of ABC Motors, we speak of a "business record yet another" crowning "a team that allows Nissan to confirm its popularity dominant local market." "We had huge sales efforts in December to turn to our advantage a situation deemed lost," says Dean Ah-Chuen, Executive Director of ABC Automobile Division. These are the 193 copies of the Nissan were delivered in December, he said, that made the difference, with the number of sales of Nissan vehicles in 1297 to 2012.

Pascal Lelong, National Sales & Marketing Manager at Toyota Mauritius, maintains that Toyota was the best-selling brand in 2012 with 1348 vehicles. This, he says, is confirmed by the figures of the National Transport Authority (NTA). This strong performance, he said, is due to good sales in the segment of vans 15 and 16 seats.

It seems, as we explain members of the Motor Vehicles Dealers Association (MVDA) Toyota Mauritius has not yet submitted its sales figures for 2012. Confusion would, according to them, the fact that some vehicles registered in the NTA are not due to sales of the Toyota dealership in Mauritius, but parallel imports made by other entities or individuals. Gilles Lalanne, president of the MVDA confirms that he can not comment on sales figures from 2012, because it is not in possession of all the sales figures dealers.

In any case, if it is based on the sales figures of the MVDA in November and NTA figures for December, Nissan's sales are estimated at 1295 (1104 + 191) and 1289 (1 186 + 103) for Toyota vehicles. But this number does not corroborate those two dealers.
