Montagne-Longue: CWA Connection Fears on the Road

"An accident can happen at any time" , protests Premchandlall Bundhoo, village president of Long Mountain. What worries: a connection of the Central Water Authority (CWA) installed between Mariana and Montagne Longue about two years ago. However, initially, this connection had been placed along the road. But over the months, the water pressure helps, he moved over a distance of about one meter on the floor. 

This connection was placed to supply water to a portion of Long Mountain, which was facing a serious shortage. Since then, good Samaritans have been constantly challenge the authorities on the dangers it poses, says the president of the village. The latter explains that he approached the CWA of St. Paul and the Office of the agency located in Pamplemousses to find a solution to the problem. He says that even the police alerted the CWA on the risks associated with this connection. In vain.

When questioned, the communications director of the CWA, Bishek Narain argues that the work was carried out in an emergency. Because it was absolutely necessary to supply water to the residents of Long Mountain. "Even after the drought, we left this connection the request of the inhabitants" , he explains. And to specify that tenders were launched to replace the problematic part by Ductile iron, particularly resistant. He says that the contract will be allocated in the coming weeks and the problem will be solved as well.
