New BMW X5 (BMW G05) leaked online
The next-gen BMW X5’s images and details have leaked online ahead of its world premiere. These images have been shared on Bimmer Post.

The new BMW X5 is scheduled to make its debut on 25 June 2018.

The 2018 BMW X5 looks sportier with its evolutionary design, and it is bigger than its predecessor. On the outside, the redesigned model has a bigger BMW Kidney Grille in a design inspired by that of the BMW Concept X7 and with active air flaps, smaller yet more aggressive headlamps with BMW Laserlight technology, 22-inch alloy wheels and slim new tail lamps reminiscent of the BMW X4.

The interior of the 2018 BMW X5 has a cleaner design and packs more advanced technologies compared to its predecessor. The all-new executive SUV is equipped with features like third-gen head-up display with a larger display and more information, BMW Live Cockpit Professional, 1,500-watt, 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Diamond 3D surround sound system, wireless charging for smartphones and more.

The BMW Live Cockpit Professional is a standard fitment. It comprises two 12.3-inch displays, one of which is the SUV's virtual instrument cluster and the other a central display. It includes natural voice control for giving voice commands more easily and gesture control for a more convenient operation of the infotainment system. BMW has made parking the SUV hassle-free by introducing its Parking Assistant Plus automated parking system in it.

The CLAR platform-based 2018 BMW X5 measures 4,945 mm in length, 2,004 mm in width and 1,791 mm in height. Compared to the third generation model, the fourth generation model is 36 mm longer, 66 mm wider and 19 mm higher. The wheelbase has grown by 42 mm to 2,975 mm. 645 litres of luggage space is available behind the rear seats, and it is expandable to 1,860 litres on folding them. BMW will offer four engine models at launch, as listed below:

  • xDrive 30d: 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, 256 PS and 620 Nm of torque
  • xDrive 40i: 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, 340 PS and 450 Nm of torque
  • xDrive M50d: 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, 400 PS and 745 Nm of torque
  • xDrive 50i: 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged petrol engine, 462 PS, 650 Nm of torque

As their name states, all engine models will have the xDrive AWD system. BMW will offer an 8-speed automatic transmission also as standard.

The all-new BMW X5 will go on sale in Europe later this year.
