New details on 2019 Suzuki Jimny & Suzuki Jimny Sierra emerge
More details regarding the new 2019 Suzuki Jimny and Jimny Sierra have surfaced online. Images shared by users on Imgur reveal brochure, interior, exterior, and safety features of the JDM-spec Suzuki Jimny and Suzuki Jimny Sierra.

One of the images of the brochure reveals the difference between the regular Jimny and the Jimny Sierra. The latter features a wider body courtesy of additional protective cladding around the wheel arches. It appears to have wider tires as well wrapped around a slightly different set of alloy wheels.

Both models feature projector headlamps, black bumper, ORVMs with turn indicators, and tail gate mounted spare wheel. The underside of the left ORVM appears to have an attachment possibly for the BSD (blind spot detection) system or a driver aid related feature.

These images also shed light on the cabin of the 2019 Suzuki Jimny. The dashboard features a touchscreen to support the infotainment system. It is likely to be Suzuki's 7-inch Smartplay setup. Controls for the air conditioning system have been lifted from the Suzuki Swift. The steering wheel too is quite similar to the hatchback's, but it isn't a flat bottom unit. The Jimny will be launched in a 3-door hardtop configuration with seating for four.

The JDM-spec Jimny is likely to get a 0.66 L R06A petrol engine. Globally, the engine options could include 1.2 L K12C and 1.0 L K10C petrol engines and a 1.2 L K12B petrol. One of the images reveals that there will be at least one automatic transmission variant on offer.

As per a recent report, the 2019 Suzuki Jimny will be uneviled on July 5, 2018. Following its launch in its home market in Japan, the 2019 Suzuki Jimny should start reaching international markets towards the end of this year or early next year. Series production of the SUV is already underway in Japan and the upcoming model was recently showcased at a closed-door event.
