We’re just days away from the online reveal of the all-new 2015 Mazda MX-5 Miata. It promises to be a revolutionary step forward in many ways but will, at the same time, return to its lightweight roadster roots that date back to 1989. Power will come from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder mated to a six-speed manual. Simply put, the new MX-5 will be a bit smaller and stiffer than the outgoing generation. But what about a coupe variant?
We’ve only heard about the soft-top thus far. However, according to a report coming from Automotive News, not only is a new MX-5 coupe planned for 2017, it’ll also feature a fastback-style silhouette. No other details were given, but we’ll have complete specs and photos of the new MX-5 in just a few days. Stay tuned.
