The Nissan Rogue One Star Wars Edition is a CUV from a driveway far, far away

Available in Magnetic Black or Glacier White – colors which Nissan should call Darth Vader Black and Stormtrooper White – there will be just 5,400 crossovers inspired by the galaxy far, far away.

Based on the volume SV trim with the Sun and Sound Touring Package equipped as standard, the Rogue One Rogues get the usual array of interior and exterior enhancements, befitting of a limited-edition package. On the exterior, Nissan finished the grille and accompanying surrounds, the roof rails, and door handles in gloss black. There's unique badging on the front doors, while the D-pillars feature the Rebel Alliance's Starbird logo on the passenger side and Galactic Empire's crest on the driver's side. The Star Wars logo sits on the clear rear bumper protector. Finally, there are gloss-black, 17-inch alloys.

Inside, owners get to step on all sorts of Star Wars stuff. Illuminated kick plates feature the franchise's logo, while there are limited-edition floor mats. The Starbird and Imperial Crest make appearances in the cupholders, while passengers sit on Charcoal Black cloth seats and can imagine the Death Star floating above while looking through the panoramic sunroof.

Beyond these stylistic tweaks, this is the same likable Rogue crossover we tested last month. There's a 2.5-liter engine mated to an Xtronic continuously variable transmission. Front-drive is standard, although all-wheel drive is available, too, but Nissan didn't mention how many of the 5,400 special edition Rogues will send power to all four wheels.

While all the style stuff is okay, limited-edition model gets a neat piece of memorabilia – a helmet. No, you don't wear it. Instead, the full-size Death Trooper helmet sits on a stand. It'll look great next to your mint, in-box Darth Vader action figure.

The Rogue One edition demands a $1,990-premium over the standard Rogue SV. If you're interested, best act quickly – of the 5,400 cars, 5,000 are coming to the US with the remaining 400 going to Canada.
