Nissan Terra gets 5-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP
Following its market debut in China in April, the Nissan Terra has started penetrating the ASEAN region. The mid-size SUV was recently crash tested under the regional NCAP, in which it scored the maximum 5-star safety rating.

In Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), the Nissan Terra has scored 32.18 points out of maximum 36.00, 12.85 (out of maximum 16.00) in the frontal impact test, 16.00 (out of maximum 16.00) in side impact test and 3.33 (out of maximum 4.00) in head protection technology. ASEAN NCAP notes that the driver' head and neck scored full 4 points in the frontal impact test scored, but in a real-world crash, there is a possibility for the chest and lower legs to sustain injury.

In Child Occupant Protection (COP), the Nissan Terra has achieved 40.74 points out of maximum 49.00, 16.00 (out of maximum 16.00) in the frontal impact test, 8.00 (out of maximum 8.00) in the side impact test and 9.74 (out of maximum 13.00) in head protection technology.

The Nissan Terra, based on the platform of the Nissan Navara pickup, made for Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei and the Philippines is fitted with six airbags as standard. In other ASEAN markets, side and curtain airbags are available as an option. Other safety features, standard or optional depending on the market, include ABS, ESC, SBR (driver and front passenger), Blind Spot Warning and Lane Departure Warning.

In the ASEAN region, the Nissan Terra is now on sale in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar. In India, this frame SUV could directly compete with the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Isuzu MU-X, but the company is yet to confirm the launch. In January, Nissan India will introduce the Nissan Kicks, which will fall in the premium B-SUV segment and rival the Hyundai Creta.
