Penalty Points: the "License Paper Counterpart" Distributed from January 21

On 21 January the authorities will begin to distribute the "license paper counterpart" in the context of the implementation of penalty points. The announcement was made on Thursday 10 January by the officials of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure.

The "paper license counterpart" will note the offenses and penalty points driver verbalized. This document, which will be annexed to the license will be distributed in alphabetical order from January 21 to March 21 in 21 police stations. Motorists should bring their identity cards or their birth, their driver's license and a document certifying their addresses.

The "paper counterpart license" will be offered free of charge. But in case of loss the driver will have to pay a sum of Rs 100.

It is the company Leal Informatics who will distribute these new documents.

How will the penalty points? The fundamental point remains that the number of points above punished for any offense not be noted that the authority of the magistrate. The police have no authority to remove the driver points.

In case of violation of the rules of the road, the driver will be assigned penalty points depending on the seriousness of the offense. Having accumulated a total of 16 points, his license will be suspended for a minimum period of sixmonths.
