Rare 1965 Ford GT40 Could Fetch $3 Million at Auction
A rare 1965 Ford GT40 could fetch as much as $3 million when it crosses the auction block in January.

The GT40 is finished in Pine Green and includes a heated windshield, fender mirrors, two fuel gauges and mufflers.

"The Ford GT40 holds an important place in American racing history as the car that gave Enzo a run for his money, repeatedly, and remains highly sought after in collector circles," said Gord Duff, RM Auctions specialist.

The GT40 will be one of the highlights of RM Auctions' January 18 sale in Phoenix, Arizona.

The car was originally purchased by James Fielding, chairman of Heenan and Froude, the manufacturers of the dynamometers on which the GT40s were tested. It has been restored and now features silver Le Mans stripes.
