Since the morning of Monday, April 4, residents of Sorèze beside Straws are forced to go back to Le Reduit if they want to go to Port Louis. Usually, they use the interchange leading to the area of straw.

"We were presented with a fait accompli," protested one resident of fragmentation Sorèze. Like her, about thirty residents responded to the appeal committee Sorézia Welfare Association (SWA) on Monday April 4 at 9:30, to express their discontent. And also to consult on ways to be introduced to overcome the difficulties encountered in their neighbourhood.

It is through a statement placed in their mailbox Sorèze residents learned they would be forced to back up Reduces then descending to Port Louis for eight months for repairs the Ring Road which continues just outside the entrance to the subdivision.

At the mobilization meeting this morning, people have suggested alternatives to avoid the detour of about ten kilometers in total imposed on them, then they are just two kilometers from the capital.

The chairman of the SWA, Mekraj Baldowa, accompanied by other members of the association, held, however reassured the people present: "We have already, since yesterday, began a process of negotiation with the authorities concerned, namely the Road Development Authority, a company Colas and Rehm Grinaker.They have been listening and are open to our suggestions until we find a final solution.But we certainly will not accept their proposal to go through Reduced to go to Port-Louis, "said the latter.

The inhabitants of Sorèze, supportive, are unanimous: "We do not want to detour to Reduce and we will fight in the judiciary if necessary."

A series of problems caused by this detour has been listed by other people, including loss of time due to the route to get to the capital, traffic jams, the additional cost of gasoline and also supply bread, newspapers and vegetables as well as attendance at various places of worship.

Located not far from straw, the residential area of increasingly popular home to some 90 families, suffered numerous development projects over the past two years. Thus, according to the SWA, in addition to the Ring Road, a mini-station will soon be fitted and it could be that the light rail passes not far from the partition.

"We showed in the past that our solidarity and our unity is our strength.We managed to put pressure on authorities to ensure that infrastructure issues are resolved.We will do the same again this time to find a solution where everybody will win, "concluded Mekraj Baldowa.
