Rs 30 Million in Stolen Jewels: Four Suspects and Two Black Vehicles Sought
A man has been involved in a robbery, three of his accomplices, a 4x2 black and a car the same color are actively sought by the CID Grand-Port/Savane.

The repeat offender was seen near the drain where nine of the fourteen boxes of jewelry was recovered the night of Jan. 30.

A repeat offender, three of his accomplices and two black vehicles are actively sought by the police under criminal investigation on theft of Rs 30 million pieces of jewelry to the prejudice of the Mauritian Society of Sapphire. These individuals are suspected of being in cahoots with Aslam Khodabaccus and Hans Chamilalll, both employees of this company specializing in finished products to divert the shipment of 40 kg of gold jewelery and 120 kg of silver jewelery in the post afternoon of Thursday, January 26.

Aslam Khodabaccus and Hans Chamilall fourteen boxes were supposed to get plastic containing the jewels to the airport to bring them back to headquarters factory in Goodlands that day. But they never came on time and have been led to believe that their boss has disabled truck delayed. Prior to his attention in the early evening they were victims of an attack.

The staging of the attack has taken place at the roundabout of Calebasses as one of them told investigators from the CID Goodlands and Red Earth. Witnesses described seeing an all-terrain vehicle and a black car in the process of cutting the road to the white Ford Ranger Hans Chamilall and Khodabaccus Aslam.

Now all that has been staged. Aslam Khodabaccus and Hans Chamilall were first challenged on the site of the attack and claimed that one of their assailants shot the tire of their 4x2. But no trace of bullet and powder was found on the vehicle found abandoned on the morning of Friday, January 27 in the vicinity of Bassin-Blanc.

Their version was further undermined when investigators learned that their Ford Ranger was involved in a true-false hit and run - "hit and run" - in the region of Verdun, in St Peter's this afternoon one. She fell to pieces when a field worker - a Field Intelligence Officer (FIO) - the CID Grand-Port/Savane has obtained information to the effect that a repeat offender was seen entering a drain in the region d'Albert-Mare earlier this January 26. Either on the airport road to Goodlands.

Nine of the fourteen boxes have been recovered in this famous underground drain crossing Highway South in the evening of Monday, January 30. Since then, research has been undertaken in other drains in the region, in vain. But the description given by one witness put investigators on a trail that is: the recidivist seen near the drain has been involved in an armed robbery.

The survey suggests that an organized gang is behind this false theft and was implemented by the CID to trace his Grand-Port/Savane four members suspected to inhabit the South of the Island.
