Slamming Into a Roundabout at High Speed Is How You Make a Suzuki Swift Fly

Police have released footage of a scary accident that took place in RbieD, Lodz, Poland, on Easter Sunday. The 41-year-old driver came speeding into an empty junction and hit the roundabout embankment at high speed, which catapulted him high into the air.

Polish Radio SA reports that the scene of the accident was even more terrifying than what the video available at the bottom of the page would make you think. The Suzuki Swift was catapulted into the air and landed in a graveyard, nearly missing the church building and a statue of the Pope, but taking out a couple of trees, while leaving a trail of destroyed parts behind.

The car burst into flames almost immediately and the driver had to be taken out of the wreck using hydraulics. Strangely enough, the man did not receive any life-threatening injuries. While at the hospital, blood tests were performed to determine whether he'd been drinking. First responders smelled alcohol on his breath, which would explain the insane and highly dangerous aerial stunt he pulled – unwillingly so.

Like most countries in Europe right now, Poland is under strict stay-at-home orders, so all non-essential travel is banned. Also, similarly to what is happening in other territories, empty streets have brought out the speed demons, so police are reporting an increase in the number of speeding incidents and / or speeding tickets.

Add alcohol to the mix and you get the perfect scenario for such an incident. If there ever was a need for reminders that driving and alcohol and speeding never make good mates, let this video serve as one.
