Another accident involving a minibus and a school bus in South Africa has killed at least 16 dead and 31 injured, four seriously, this Saturday in south-east, it was learned from sources.

''The accident happened on the road R61 between Cradock and Graaff-Reinet (in the Eastern Cape, ed) between a van and a Mercedes Benz school bus which apparently went to a sporting event and was led by the school director, "he told AFP Ashraf Ismail, a spokesman for the South African agency for the management of road traffic.

He said there are thirteen deaths among the passengers of the minibus, and three in the school bus, including two children. 

According to the TV channel-news eNews, the children went to a rugby match.

For reasons still not established, their bus collided head on with the minibus, the association said Arrive Alive road safety in South African agency Sapa news.

Accidents of buses and minibuses are the first in many political and economic power of the continent, and often very heavy balance sheets.

South Africa is lagging rate of road deaths comparable to that of many less developed African countries (33.2 deaths per 100,000), according to a 2009 report by the World Health Organization (WHO).
