Five years after introducing the Honda Crider, GAC-Honda has rolled out its second generation model. The redesign will be listed on the Chinese market later this year.
On the design front, the 2019 Honda Crider looks like a downsized Honda Accord. The dragon-inspiration is clear, with Honda's signature chrome wing grille stretching wide onto the full-LED headlamps in a style reminiscent of its wings. The form of the large main air intake is another trait inspired by the latest Accord.
On the sides too, the 2019 Honda Crider has strong hints of the 2018 Honda Accord fastback, especially with respect to the design of the sleek greenhouse. At the rear, the C-shaped tail lamps are reminiscent of the 2018 Honda Amaze. Overall, the design a odd mix-and-match job with elements borrowed from Honda's global range, and would probably suit the taste of only Chinese consumers.
The second gen Crider's interior has bits borrowed or inspired by the Honda Accord, Honda CR-V and Honda Civic. It has an all-black colour theme. The simplistic design of the dashboard is spruced up with leather for a luxurious look. The centre console has a minimalistic design with a large floating display and a compact HVAC control panel. The instrument panel features the familiar three-tier design with a large colour driver information display in the centre.
The Honda Crider rides on a stretched version of the Honda City's platform. The mid-class sedan is now 4,756 mm long, 1,804 mm wide and 1,509 mm high. It has grown by 92 mm in length, 54 mm in width and 4 mm in height. Honda has stretched the wheelbase by 80 mm to 2,730 mm.
A 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine has replaced the 1.8-litre naturally aspirated engine. While the old engine delivered 125 PS and 173 Nm of torque, the new engine produces 122 PS and 173 Nm of torque. A CVT sends power to the wheels. The 2019 Honda Crider has a fuel consumption rating of 4.9L/100 km.
Like the previous generation, the new generation Honda Crider is likely a China-only model.
