It’s been 15 years since Honda S2000 production ended, and while the company ponders a potential successor, it’s still an important sports car. Bulletproof Automotive, a Los Angeles-based company that offers tuning products, race car builds, and more, has taken an S2000 and tuned it to the max.
Under the hood is a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder crate engine, equipped with a Vortech V2-Si supercharger, which produces over 580 horsepower at 9,300 rpm, reaching a maximum of 10,000 rpm. It features an Amuse titanium exhaust system, including the manifold, a high-performance fuel system with Injector Dynamics fuel injectors, and a Science of Speed racing heat exchanger.
The engine pairs with Honda’s AP2 six-speed manual transmission, which comes with a short shifter and an ACT flywheel. It pumps power to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential from ASM and Drexler. Suspension upgrades include a Top Secret Super Dampers Coilover kit, and an assortment of parts from J’s Racing, Spoon, and EVS.
The modded S2000 wears the Varis Dark Panther widebody kit, which features carbon-fiber aerodynamics, a vented hood, wing, and a lightweight trunk. Bulletproof Automotive painted the Honda in the same Lamborghini Balloon White paint as the company’s first car, the Concept One.
The wheels, 19-inch BP-RW Evolutions, feature a design inspired by Tsuchime, a hammered metal technique often found in Japanese kitchenware and knives. Bulletproof wraps them in 295/30ZR19 Toyo Tires Proxes R888R tires. They hide the six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo Pista brakes.
Inside, Bulletproof Automotive installed RS-G Limited Edition Super Start seats, a Mugen roll bar, a Mugen steering wheel, and Willians FIA racing harnesses. The company uses black Alcantara for the dashboard, door cards, and headliner.
