Toll Roads: Three Foreign Consortia Vying to Win the Contract
The Central Procurement Board released this Tuesday, January 31 the list of bidders for the proposed toll road.

Three foreign consortia were selected. The Transactions Advisers are already working on the list of roads to be paid.

The toll system has entered a new phase. Three foreign consortia were qualified by the Central Procurement Board (CPB) this Tuesday, January 31, 2012. This is Group Five / Strabag Consortium, Consortium Plan and China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd.. They are vying for the start of construction of the project estimated at Rs 23.1 billion.

The CPB has selected three firms in a list of eleven bidders who responded to the tender of the Road Development Authority (RDA) for this project Public Private Partnership (PPP) . The idea is to make the government pay for access to certain roads for motorists.

The chairman of the CPB, Premcoomar Beeharry, said that the next step is more important for the choice of the bidder. "The government has appointed Transaction Advisers in 2008 to review bids for road decongestion system. A report is expected in six weeks, " said Premcoomar Beeharry.

For example, the "ring road" highway at the entrance of Port Louis and a way up to Phoenix will be paid.
