According to a report from noticias automotivas, the 2017 Toyota Etios (model year update) will be available with an automatic transmission option in Brazil. The new model with a 4-speed automatic transmission option will be launched by next month in the South American market.
The Toyota Etios will be offered with updated 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre engines, as per the report. The 4-speed automatic transmission will be available with the 1.5-litre flex-fuel engine. The 1.3-litre engine may continue being offered only with the 5-speed manual transmission. In the current model year, the 1.3-litre flex-fuel (petrol/ethanol) engine produces 90 hp (ethanol)/84 hp (petrol) and 126 Nm (ethanol)/117 Nm (petrol) of torque while the 1.5-litre flex-fuel (petrol/ethanol) engine produces 96.5 hp (ethanol)/92 hp (petrol) and 136 Nm of torque.
The Indian-spec Toyota Etios is currently available with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.4-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. Only a 5-speed manual transmission is available and there’s no word of availability of an automatic transmission as of now.
