Toyota president, Akio Toyoda, has confirmed the name for the world’s first mass-market hydrogen fuel cell car, while outlined plans to create the necessary hydrogen refueling infrastructure in the US Northeast with stations to arrive in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. 19 hydrogen stations are also planned for California.
This is key if you want car buyers to even contemplate the Mirai, which will come with zero tailpipe emissions, a 300-mile range (483 km) and the ability to refuel in less than five minutes. Toyoda said, "For [Toyota], this isn't just another car. This is an opportunity – an opportunity to really make a difference. And making a difference is what Toyota is all about."
