United Bus Service: Four Unions Mobilize Against NRB
This is a discord that exists in the United Bus Service. The company is powerless in terms of salary increase and four unions are mobilizing against the National Remuneration Board. They denounce the fact that there was no salary increase since 2008. They announce a rally, Monday, Nov. 19, in Port-Louis.

These four associations are demanding justice. It is the Association of Workers Transportation Bus (ATTA), the United Bus Service Employees Union (UBSEU), the Bus Industry Staff Association (BISA) and Bus Industry Union Traffic Officers (Bitou ). Unlike officials who received the PRB, these employees feel neglected public transport. They want the government to take into account their demand for higher wages.

"How is it that there is no pay increase since 2008, while the cost of living is rising? Drivers are deprived of UBS between Rs 16,000 and Rs 18,000 per month and the other drivers would receive the same amount. It is the same for recipients' advance Chotoye Yusuf, spokesman of the four unions.

A meeting with the officers of the Ministry of Labour has held on November 5. Unions will have the answer to their grievances November 29 at 11 am at the social center Mary, Queen of Peace. However, these four unions want to consolidate all UBS employees to make them aware of their situation at the press conference on Monday. They will also address issues related to demerit point suspensions and employees of UBS by the NTA they deem illegal. "There are also fighting for the cause of our colleagues in other bus companies," reveals Yusuf Chotoye. In the process, they will also register a complaint with the Equal Opportunities Commission.
