A rumor emerged a few days back regarding the possibility that Jaguar is looking to build a small, front-wheel-drive model in the relatively near future. The UK automaker hasn’t confirmed anything just yet, but such a model does make sense. The reason? BMW and Mini are about to unveil an all-new FWD platform that’ll serve as the basis for the next-gen Mini Cooper and BMW 1 Series GT and X1. Point being, the premium car segment is quickly moving towards smaller and more fuel efficient models.
So if Jaguar were to build a so-called Mini fighter/city car, what would it look like? Automotive rendering artist extraordinaire Theophilus Chin was pondering that very question, and came up with his vision of what that Jag could theoretically look like. Taking some inspiration from the Bertone Jaguar B99 Concept, he created this "Baby Jaguar". Although the overall design concept isn’t fully complete, it doesn’t look half bad. It’s a bit boxy but with some more refinement, a small Jag could turn out to be something pretty sweet.
