GoPro cams are nothing special today. But back in the 1960s they simply didn’t exist, at least not from a manufacturer’s standpoint. If you wanted to capture the thrill of speed, the sound of a racing car or motorbike’s engine at full throttle, or even the final moments before a horrific crash from the driver's view, it involved little more than a camera mounted to a helmet secured with a bit of duct tape. Check out these beautiful vintage photos of legends like Sir Jackie Stewart and Steve McQueen serving as GoPro pioneers. Nothing was off limits back then.
