The Japanese automaker has announced a recall for 52,000 Mazda6 sedans due to potential difficulty in the cars' evaporative systems. Actually, the evaporative canister vent line of certain 2009 and 2010 Mazda6 models is the perfect home for a species of spider. If the web clogs the line, extreme negative pressure may build up in the vehicle's fuel tank, which is likely finally to cause a crack in the tank itself.
Unnecessary to say, a cracked fuel tank is a bad thing.
Mazda says that it will inspect the vent line and clean it as necessary. Moreover, dealers will set up a vent in the line to prevent the spider from crawling back down into the line and making a home for himself. The recall is expected to begin on or around March 25 of this year.
