A CVT is standard across the range. The 2015 Daihatsu Move and Move Custom kei cars have been launched in Japan. The latest iteration of Daihatsu’s popular JDM small car adopts a new design language.

Dictated by the kei car regulations, the Move has a compact footprint and hence relies on its height to create a sense of roominess. The large high-mounted headlamps, rectangular grille and secondary airdam, contoured sheet metal body and a upright rear fascia with vertical combination lamps round off the exterior design.

Inside, the kei car adopts an upright dashboard with centre console-mounted gear lever and a multimedia infotainment screen. The sliding rear bench is a noteworthy feature.

The Daihatsu Move Custom is a sportier variant with enhancements such as projector headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, an aggressive front bumper with foglights, black contrast roof and matching alloy wheels, roof-mounted spoiler and LED taillights. The cabin is given a sporty full black treatment as against the Move’s dual-tone black-beige finish.

As with any other kei car, the Move twins are powered by a 660 cc three-cylinder gasoline engine which is available in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged guises, to produce 52 PS and 64 PS respectively. A CVT is standard across the range and the cars are available in 2WD and 4WD configurations.
