A Kia spokesperson had divulged that the facelifted Kia Cerato will “be an almost new car – it’s a significant change,” to the media. From the spyshots, its clear that it will have a re-worked front-end with a new tiger nose honeycomb mesh grille, sleeker pair of projector headlamps and new bumper design. The back is also covered up, suggesting that Kia could makes some changes to rear-end as well.
Being a facelift, it may not get extensive mechanical updates under the hood. The facelifted Kia Cerato could retain the 1.8-liter MPI engine a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.
Reports suggest that the 2.0 GDI engine will be replaced by the 175 bhp 1.6-liter T-GDi turbocharged gasoline engine from the new Hyundai Elantra, which is paired to an in-house 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.
