The changes attributed to the facelift are minimal. It gets updated headlights with LED technology, a sportier front fascia with a redesigned front bumper and larger foglamp enclosures and a silver skid plate. The S-Limited variant comes with a more aggressive fascia, featuring a gaping radiator grille, faux intake slashes on either side of the bumper, chrome foglamp bezels and redesigned taillights.
As for the interior, the only changes seen are a new three-spoke steering wheel design with buttons, an updated instrument cluster and new trim options for the dashboard. The “Eyesight” package adds features like Pre-Collision Braking System, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Departure with Sway Warning.
It’s unclear if Subaru has made revisions to the engine lineup. The Forester is currently offered with a 2.0-liter boxer engine capable of 148 PS and 196 Nm of torque. The unit is mated to a Lineartronic CVT and all-wheel drive system. It is capable of returning 16 km/l (JC08 cycle).
The brochure also reveals the prices of the 2016 Subaru Forester. The top-end 2.0iL Eyesight S-Limited costs 2,894,400 yen, while the base 2.0iL is priced at 2,581,200 yen. Adding the Eyesight package to the latter variant will lift the price to 2,689,200 yen.
