5 Awesome Getaway Cars For the Modern Criminal
Sometimes pursuing a traditional career does not sound too appealing. But bills still need to be paid and a life spent living in strip clubs and driving fast cars is getting no less expensive.

After watching a few heist movies, robbing a bank starts to sound very appealing. If you plan on not getting caught you’ll need to do your research to find a proper getaway car. Luckily we at CarBuzz have a taste for petrol-powered pursuit "assisters" and would like to help. So, we created a list of the top five getaway cars, in no particular order.

Mercedes-AMG G-Wagon 6x6 With a 5.5-liter twin-turbo AMG V8 cranking out 544 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque through six wheels, the only way to get a more brutish getaway vehicle is to find a tank for sale. The cockpit is luxurious and the 18-inch ground clearance afforded by the ported axles crushes traffic and police cars that get in the way. Getting from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.5 seconds (it weighs eight tons). The Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor takes 8.7 seconds to hit the same speed. Pro Tip: Make police think they shot out your tires by using the on board air compressors to empty and fill your tires.

Hoonicorn RTR Mustang There is little else in the world that can induce as much adrenaline as hooning around cop cars. Also, all of the donuts that you do in this 845-horsepower all-wheel drive Mustang will make the cops hungry. This car is such a good getaway vehicle that the Gymkhana producers showed it passing O.J. Simpson’s infamous white Ford Bronco in Gymkhana Seven. Pro Tip: Be sure to get plenty of practice drifting around corners in the 3,000-pound 6.7-liter V8 before attempting Ken Block-like power slides.

Porsche 918 Spyder If you’re a lone wolf then you want the Porsche 918 Spyder. With the ability to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 2.2 seconds, and aided by instant electric torque and all-wheel drive, most banks won't even know what hit them by the time you are halfway to the hideout. The 887-horsepower Porsche’s cargo capacity isn’t the best, so steal something small and valuable like jewelry. Hopefully police will choose not to ram such a beautiful car. Pro tip: Switch the 918 into electric mode for added stealth.

Cadillac CTS-V The Cadillac solution is to stuff a Corvette Z06 engine into a CTS and add performance handling capabilities. It also lets you seat five in roomy comfort. A sprint to 100 km/h in the CTS-V takes 3.5 seconds and you get the sweet sound of the pushrod V8 cranking 640 horsepower and sublimating the tires into the intakes of police cruisers. Pro tip: Lose some "accomplices" and the Corvette V8 will be less hindered…and so will your share of the loot.

Tesla Model S P90 D The Tesla Model S P90D seats seven, has 751 horsepower, takes only 2.8 seconds to hit 100 km/h, and has a low center of gravity effective for swerving away from spike strips. Smart thieves can even travel cross-country on Tesla’s supercharging network. The recent autopilot update allows the driver to shift focus from driving to shooting if needed. Pro Tip: The Tesla provides great cover because your new friends at the country club will think you made your fortune in Silicon Valley.
