550 Citations Issued For Using Mobile Phone Whilst Driving

Despite the various awareness campaigns to sensitize drivers about the risk of such practice, drivers continue to use mobile phones whilst driving.

According to Sergent Barlen Moonsamy, the average monthly number of citations for such offence is 550. 572 were registered in July. The awareness campaign which has as theme “Difisil pou konsantre Pa servi portab lor volan” will continue until 31 August. Besides this campaign, the police organizes as from 28 August until 2nd September the 7th edition of the Security and Safety Week. This event which will be held at Plaza, Rose Hill will unit all police units.
