Driving Centre: Government will Soon Launch Year of "Expression of Interest"
It's decided! The government will launch soon a year of "Expression of Interest" for the project of a Driving Centre in Highlands. The decision was taken on Friday 10 at the Council of Ministers.

Ten acres of land has been identified for the construction of Highlands Driving Centre. The center will provide training for road users.

The Minister of Public Infrastructure and Transport, who attended the official launch of "Speed Enforcement Camera System" at the headquarters of the Traffic Management and Road Safety Unità Port-Louis, said the center will be operational within 18 months after the contract award.

Anil Bachoo also spoke about the proposed privatization of fitness centers in the National Transport Authority (NTA). The three companies, which have won contracts to provide this service: S.G.S . Mauritius Ltd, Eastern Stone Crusher Ltd and Autochek Ltd. Activities will start in December.  

In this function, the Traffic Management and Road Safety Unit has unveiled the "Speed Cameras" mobile that will be used by the police. They are 10 in total.

As for the 20 "Fixed Speed Cameras" they are operational for 18 hours this Friday, May 10 It is the firm Pro Guard Ltd who provide maintenance.

These cameras were placed in the "Black Spots", that is to say the risk areas.

According to Anil Bachoo, by the end of May, the number of "Speed Cameras" go to 25. And the end of 2013, there will be 52. He hoped that 100 "Speed Cameras" are operating on our roads next year.
