Andre Wisdom Abandons £100k Porsche in Muddy Woods After Getting Lost on Way to OWN Stadium
The England Under-21 captain, who is on loan at Derby County, was following satnav to the club's ground when he got stuck in a huge mud-filled puddle

England Under-21 captain Andre Wisdom was forced to abandon his £100,000 Porsche after using a satnav to find the way to his own club's own stadium.

Liverpool starlet Wisdom, aged 20, got stuck in a huge mud-filled puddle after driving down a woodland track three miles from the nearest main road.

Wisdom joined Championship side Derby County two weeks ago and was trying to get to their Pride Park ground to play in Saturday's home game with Sheffield Wednesday.

A source told the Mirror: "Andre is new to the area and doesn't know his way around. He is staying in a hotel while he finds somewhere to live.

"He left the hotel and on his way to the ground he popped into a shop to get a drink.

"Because Andre wasn't sure of the way to Pride Park from the shop, he entered the postcode in the Porsche's satnav and it took him all the way down a muddy track.

"The poor lad phoned the club to explain what had happened and managed to get himself to the ground in time to play.

"Andre cleaned himself up and I'm not sure if his team-mates know about this yet - he might have to prepare himself for a bit of mickey taking."

A mountain biker told how he found the defender's Porsche Panamera Turbo marooned in the mud six miles from Pride Park on Saturday morning.

Pete Irons, 41, said: "I didn't really think much of it when I first saw it.

"I thought whoever it was was unlucky to have done that - but I also thought it would be gone by the afternoon.

"But when I came back through the woods a little later with friends it was still there and I went right up to it to have a look to see what had happened.

"I realised it was a really posh Porsche so we were all joking about the poor guy who had managed to get it stuck and how much money it was going to cost them.

"To get to that point he would have to come through an equally muddy section - I have no idea what he was thinking.

"I just can't believe he could have got that far to begin with, then to submerge it in that puddle.

"We are miles from any main road and the track doesn't go anywhere, it's just mind boggling how he ended up there.

"We called the police to let them know it was there.

"They came along and took the registration number of the car which turned out to be Andre Wisdom's.

"We just couldn't believe it. I don't know when it happened but it certainly wasn't there when I was out walking on Friday morning.

"He would have got so muddy trying to escape too - there was no way he could have got out without getting covered."

The Porsche was later towed out of the mud by a Jeep Cherokee and driven away.

Pete said: "I noticed a Jeep dragging it away later but it was too dark to look at who was driving.

"It seemed ok, just a bit muddy.

"A neighbour said she saw a very muddy Porsche driving down the road a little after that, apparently it was emitting a massive cloud of white smoke.

"I think it will definitely need a bit of TLC in a garage."

Wisdom is currently serving a four-match international ban after being sent off for England Under 21s in the draw with Finland.

But getting lost in the Porsche did not stop Wisdom helping Derby win 3-0 against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

A Derby County Club spokesman said yesterday: "Andre visited a local shop on the way to Saturday's game against Sheffield Wednesday and, being new and unfamiliar to the area, he programmed the stadium's postcode into his Sat Nav.

"The route provided took him down a less than traditional road, where conditions were also poor.

"Ultimately his car got stuck and he, along with the club, made suitable arrangements to ensure he was at Pride Park Stadium on time for the game and his car was recovered on Saturday evening."
