Borgward BX5 chrome showcased at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show
Borgward officially entered the GCC car market at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show. To lure visitors to its stand, the company showcased a chrome-plated Borgward BX5 with black alloy wheels and red brake callipers.

The Borgward BX5 is Borgward's second model since its resurrection in 2015. It is a compact SUV slotted below the Borgward BX7. The UAE-spec Borgward BX5 measures 4,490 mm in length, 1,877 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height. It has a 2,685 mm wheelbase.

There are two engine options: 1.4-litre TGDI petrol and 1.8-litre TGDI petrol. The 1.4-litre engine produces 110 kW (150 PS) and 250 Nm of torque. The 1.8-litre engine develops 140 kW (190 PS) and 280 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include 6-speed manual (1.4L TGDI-only) and 6-speed automatic. An AWD system is available only in the 1.8L TGDI engine model, that too optionally.

The Borgward BX5's noteworthy exterior highlights include Octagon grille, Xenon headlights, LED DRLs, LED tail lights and power tailgate. Panoramic sunroof, leather steering wheel, 4.2-inch MID, 6-way power driver seat with 4-way power lumbar support and heating, heated front passenger seat, saddle leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and 8-speaker sound system are among the key interior features.

The Borgward BX5 competes with C-SUVs like the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, VW Tiguan and Jeep Compass in the country.
