Council of Ministers Decision: Bus Ticket up 12%
Announced as inevitable by the Minister Anil Bachoo, the increase in bus fares will apply from 1 August 2013. The price increase of 12% decided on the Cabinet. The union negotiator Ashok Subron, described the decision as "shameful."

The council of ministers, meeting Friday, July 26, decided a tariff increase of 12% in public transport from 1 August. The Board believes that this increase is justified because of the financial situation of the bus and the wage increases agreed in the industry. Are not affected by this increase: those receiving a pension, the disabled and students.

The decision of the Council of Ministers comes a week after the wage increase of 19% over three years torn by employees of the National Transport Corporation (NTC), but is not yet effective.
Thursday, July 25, the Minister of Public Infrastructure and Transport, Anil Bachoo announced that this increase was inevitable echoes a previous announcement of his colleague Shakeel Mohamed, Minister of Labour.

The union negotiator Ashok Subron, judge unjustified decision. "Ministers and Bachoo Mohamed participated in an ignoble action. Despicable because increasing wages of drivers, conductors and engineers in public transport is warranted. Now we want to use as a scapegoat for an increase in bus fares. It should be noted that unlike the NTC, there are bus companies that make profits ", criticizes the union.
