Embargo Lifted: Price Stabilization for Spare Parts
The lifting of the embargo on the import of spare parts for vehicles from Japan is likely to stabilize prices in the local market. So says Zaheed Ameer, spokesman for the Motor Vehicle Dealers Association. It provides a number of cases decreased by at least 50%.

Since the lifting of the embargo on April 16, importers of spare parts from the country of the rising sun have begun to place their orders. Two containers of parts have already arrived in the port according to information from the Morning.

However, the Radiation Protection Authority (RPA) continues to maintain vigilance to prevent contaminated parts are brought into the country. Each container is carefully checked with the help of customs officials.

To ensure that these spare parts conform to the regulations, the RPA requires a certificate of authenticity of the exporter, this to ensure that products exports have passed the tests of radiation.

"Despite this, we check again these products to Mauritius to see if they have not been affected by radioactivity," said an official at Morning. Since the lifting of the ban, agricultural products have begun to be imported.

President of Union Taxi Proprietors, Raffick Bahadoor, he is skeptical of lower prices of spare parts. Thus, he proposes that the government create a trust where the 6000 drivers' union members, can contribute an entry fee of Rs 500 and a monthly fee. The Trust will be entitled to purchase fuel from local oil companies at a price and dealer can help families of deceased drivers. a
