Ferrari's New Supercar is Going to Have the Perfect Name
And a name can mean everything. We learned a few months ago that Ferrari is planning to launch an all-new supercar, only this time it’ll be considered entry-level.

f you recall, this is the model that Ferrari’s previous chairman, Luca di Montezemolo, consistently stated was never going to happen under his watch. Well, he’s been out of the job since last fall and his replacement, Sergio Marchionne has his own rules. And that’s why the latter is planning to launch a new mid-engined supercar with a twin-turbo V6. The price tag?

Around $180,000 and aimed directly at the likes of the new McLaren 570S and Porsche 911 Turbo. But the best part is what it’ll be called. According to a new report from Autocar, Marchionne stated that the revival of the Dino name was "not a question of it but when." The name Dino would be perfect in this case because the original Dino was named for Enzo Ferrari’s eldest son, who died at age 24. Before that, however, he designed the first Ferrari V6 and insisted on it being mid- as opposed to front-engined. But don’t think the new Dino will just be some cheapened Ferrari. Marchionne clarified that "it is so important to get it right. And it would be a wrong association to make Dino just a cheaper Ferrari."
