The First Ever Mercedes-Maybach Convertible Is Fit For Royalty
The new Mercedes-Maybach convertible was teased in a short video a few days ago, with the clip suggesting that a luxurious, open-top car that redefines opulence was on the way.

And after revealing the Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabrio in full at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show we can say the car is all that and more. Based on the convertible S-Class, the exclusive Mercedes-Maybach features include a new front bumper and many chrome highlights. The Maybach also wears 20-inch forged wheels in a new design with a bichromatic finish.

Inside there's plush leather everywhere and the seats feature "flowing lines" achieved with progressive perforations. The seats also have a diamond quilting on the outer parts and incorporate Budapest piping. Trimmings will differ from car to car based on exterior color and grain. The fancy trim extends to the top of the soft top compartment with an inlaid Maybach logo. Maybach says it creates a "unique yacht ambiance" inspired by the Arrow 460-Granturismo yacht. A special process sees the wood veneer have a three-dimensional look to it. Exclusive trim elements are seen in nut brown magnolia, either with flowing lines or in a high-gloss finish.

Mercedes-Maybach logos are located on the front side of the seats, on the back of the head restraints and also inlaid in the stowage cover of the center console. The "1 of 300" lettering tells you which car you own out of the limited production run. We called the powerplant correctly, the Mercedes-Maybach S650 convertible uses the twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12, but power is up from 532 hp to 630 hp with 737 lb-ft of torque on offer. The big droptop can scrabble to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds and tops out at 155 mph, so Monaco shopping trips can be done in good time. A special welcome pack includes a Nappa leather key ring to match the seats and has "1 of 300" on it. That stylish luggage is standard equipment though. Nice.
