Floods: Claims for Vehicles Could Exceed Rs 100 million
The car insurance companies are facing an unprecedented situation. Claims for cars that were damaged during the floods could reach Rs 100 million.

Only drivers who have taken a comprehensive insurance with the option flooding can, however, make a claim. Although this option is not widespread, the note may be steep for insurance companies. The CEO of Mauritius Union , Kris Lutchmeenaraidoo believes that they could reach Rs 100 million. The floods Saturday, March 30 demolished hundreds of vehicles.

The Financial Services Commission (FSC) issued a press call to the insurance companies. It reminds them that they must have a "complaints coordinator" who is called to consider customer complaints. The FSC will consider claims only after consulting the decision of the "complaints coordinator."

On the other hand, insurance companies announced the creation of a solidarity fund for the victims.
