Forum launched on road traffic
A half-day workshop on cross-collaborative research exercise on the impact of road traffic on the economy, environment and health in Mauritius was organised on Thursday at the Mauritius Sugar Industry Research Institute (MSIRI), Réduit.

On the occasion, the second National Research Group (NRG) was officially launched by the minister of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology, Dr Rajesh Jeetah to address the transportation issues.

The national research group operating under the aegis of the Mauritius Research Council (MRC) aims to find practical solutions to issues of national concern such as water resources management, road traffic management, quality of food and its impact on health, renewable energy and human resources.

“I understand that experts and specialists in this area will be working on concrete solutions that will improve our economy, the environment and the health of our citizens.

The group will be working on 3 major research thematics that need to be researched, and which are road accidents, road transport and road traffic, ” said Dr Jeetah.
