Although it was a sales success, and rescued the nameplate from the debacle that was the Mustang II, the third generation (or "fox body", named for Ford’s Fox platform) Mustang wasn’t universally loved. It had a bit of an economy car look to it, and in some regions, it was slapped with the nickname "rustang". But here’s the thing: it was light, with a power-to-weight ratio that made it popular with drag racers. And some of these racers hung on to the cars.
A well-built fox body is still a force to be reckoned with, and the video here shows one up against an Izzy Performance 997 Porsche 911 VRT in a drag race with Rs78125 apiece on the line.
