When Godzilla takes a trip to the Nurburgring. Every few months a rumor comes along claiming the current Nissan GT-R (the R35) will end production the following year.

That hasn’t come true yet, and Nissan itself recently acknowledged that there’s still plenty of life left in Godzilla. Point being, the R36 could still be a few years out, and we’re not at all complaining. Just look at the best GT-R you can buy today, the GT-R Nismo. It still has that wonderfully insane, hand-built twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6, but it’s been given a little kick in the form of large diameter high-flow turbochargers.

What that means is an additional 55 hp and 18 lb-ft of torque over the standard GT-R, for a grand total of 600 hp at 6,800 RPM and 481 lb-ft at 3,200 RPM. With a suspension tuned on the famed Nurburgring, the GT-R Nismo has a price of $165,780. But we’ll let our friends at Engineering Explained take it from here.
